Мяжуе на паўночным захадзе з Літвой, на поўначы з Латвіяй, на паўночным усходзе і ўсходзе з Расіяй, на поўдні з Украінай, на захадзе з Польшчай (агульная даўжыня меж складае 2969 км). Працягласць з поўначы на поўдзень 560 км, з захаду на ўсход 650 км.
Тэрыторыя краіны 207,6 тыс. км² (84-я ў свеце). Колькасць насельніцтва — 9,5 млн чалавек (90-я ў свеце). Дзяржаўныя мовы — беларуская і руская. У краіне 6 абласцей, 118 раёнаў, 113 гарадоў, 109 пасёлкаў гарадскога тыпу, 24583 сельскія населеныя пункты. Сталіца Рэспублікі Беларусь — Мінск.

This application describes the history of Belarus. The Belarusian ethnos is traced at least as far in time as other East Slavs.
After an initial period of independent feudal consolidation, Belarusian lands were incorporated into the Kingdom of Lithuania, Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and later in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the Russian Empire and eventually the Soviet Union. Belarus became an independent country in 1991 after declaring itself free from the Soviet Union.
